Why We Need Alternative Energy Sources
As we as a society, become more conscientious of the need to care about this planet, we also look towards new alternative energy sources. We have been consuming much fossil fuel that is not good for the environment; therefore, the need for new sources of energy is of extreme urgency and importance.
We have depleted fossil fuels and in the future, there will be scarcity, and we have been damaging the planet in search for more sources of fossil fuels. As scarcity of fossil fuels becomes a reality, the already high prices will continue to soar. Most people cannot afford the already high prices, imagine what would happen if the prices soared more. It is important to prevent this, and we learn to manufacture our own energy from sustainable sources.
Fossil fuels have been causing a negative effect in our planet, and we are starting to see a change in climate, something that we had heard a long time ago, but did not believe possible. Now, it is becoming more real, as we cannot deny any more the climatic changes that are occurring all over the planet. In the mean time, the ozone layer continues to thin out. Some efforts are being made in some manufacturing processes, but this is not enough. The main issue continues to be the need to harness new sources of energy, before it is too late.
The rising prices of crude oil have an impact in more than just high gasoline prices, everything goes up since everything is somehow related - electricity, imports, exports, air flights ... the list goes on and on, as we have become too dependable on crude oil - another reason why we need alternative sources of energy.
If we continue to harm the planet, we will be directly hurting our future ability to harness renewable energy - solar power, wind power, hydropower, and biofuels. We will run out of choices if we don't make the decision now to reduce our dependence on crude oil and start working on the proper technology to harness renewable energy.
Carbon Dioxide is one of the main poisons of this planet, thanks to fossil fuels. We continue to use coal, gas, and petroleum as our main sources of energy and we are literary starting to pay the price. These sources will not last forever. Some companies are starting to take note of this and are beginning to use wind power and solar power. Other renewable sources of energy that we can harness are ethanol and biofuels. Ethanol is obtained from sugar cane, what can become a renewable source.
Besides high prices of fossil fuels, their short availability, and global warming, we have seen the devastation that an oil spill can do to a large portion of the planet - devastation of the environment, income sources, and the economy of a region. Another great reason to start looking for alternative sources of energy. In addition, technology is so much more advanced now that all the conditions are ready for us to start harnessing solar energy, wind power, and hydroelectric energy. The early we start the better for our generation and future generations.
